On 17 July 2026 the Department of Justice announced that Seafood Supply Co., a Dallas seafood wholesaler, had been sentenced to pay a $250,000 fine for violating two counts of the Lacey Act. Court documents say the company falsified the country of origin of salmon sold from January 2020 to February 2022, designating Chilean salmon as salmon from Scotland or other European countries, where the Chilean product was typically cheaper. It was placed on three years' probation and ordered to implement an environmental compliance plan, having pleaded guilty on 4 March. NOAA investigated as part of Operation Upstream Diligence.
The same DOJ release contains a sentence that belongs in the same paragraph every time the fine is mentioned: Seafood Supply has been under new leadership since the time of the violations. We print it here because leaving it out would tell a reader something false about the company as it exists now, and because this is otherwise the oldest independent fish house on the page, founded by an immigrant who bought a truckload of crab on consignment in 1974 and sold it to a department store restaurant.
Separately, on 3 March 2026 the FDA issued a warning letter to Ocean Group Inc. reporting that laboratory analysis of environmental swabs found Listeria monocytogenes at its Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Dallas facilities, the Dallas one at 10600 Boomer Circle, which processes ready-to-eat salmon and tuna. The letter says the firm's response on the Dallas facility was found to be inadequate and that a regulatory meeting was scheduled for 1 April 2026. That is a compliance action rather than a conviction, and it concerns one processing facility in a four-facility company.
Ocean Group is not listed on this page and the reason is worth stating. Its Dallas plant is real and federally documented, but its domain is a parked sale page, so there is no company website, no phone number and no self-description anywhere. Publishing a listing whose only substantive source is an enforcement action, with no company voice on the other side, is not something this directory will do. The honest place for that letter is here, dated, characterised and next to the other one, where it makes a point about the market rather than about a company: fish in a landlocked city passes through more hands and more re-processing than fish in a coastal one, and both of 2026's federal actions here were about what happened to a fish after it arrived.
